Shelter staff know how sad their pups get when they are passed by and not chosen by potential families. They see their sad, hopeful eyes hoping to catch the attention of a new family for them to love.
Many shelters plan adoption events that create many opportunities for these pups to find their forever home.
Elvis, an adorable dog in a shelter, was picked up off the streets by The Anti-Cruelty Society, an animal shelter in Chicago, Illinois.

The Anti-Cruelty Society planned an adoption event, which made Elvis very hopeful that the shelter event would bring him the love and happiness he desires. The day of the event, Elvis was very excited and hopeful to find his forever home.
Sadly, it was not to be. All of the shelter dogs found a family except for Elvis.

Although many people came close to adopting Elvis, it did not happen.
This had the shelter staff heartbroken, but despite this they were determined to find Elvis his forever home. Hoping to find Elvis a loving family, they turned to social media.
“Help us find Elvis a family to love! Elvis is a 3-year-old meatball that has the silliest personality! His giant smile lights up every room he enters,” they shared in a Facebook post.
Much to the pleasure of the staff and Elvis, this post went completely viral. Many media publications reported on the cute dog longing for his forever home.
Luckily, Elvis finally landed his forever home. Once Loren and Drew found out about this adorable pup, they knew they wanted him.
The first time Elvis met his new parents he showered them in kisses.
“When no one else wanted him, we found him. We’re all a bunch of misfits” his new owner Drew (right) said.
Elvis’ new parents know that their new family member is going to take some time to adjust to his new environment. In the meantime they’ll be showering him with love and giving him the happy ending he always dreamed of.
